Often you can Right Click the Mouse and a Menu will appear with commands such as cut, copy, paste, etc. If you have an item Selected, be sure to Right Click within the Highlighted area.
To Print the Screen when your program doesn’t show a Print Command, do the following: Hold down on the Alt & Print Screen keys for a couple seconds to copy the page to the computer’s clipboard. Have a Word Processing Program running in the computer’s taskbar at the very bottom of the screen for your convenience. Click on that program and right click on the new page and select paste. It helps to view the whole page at this time. You may stretch the image by grabbing the center bottom edge of the image when you see the arrows so that it fills the page more fully. You will not be able to manipulate the text in this document, as it is an image, but you may save it or print it for reference.
When you get to a website you want to get back to more easily, you can either save the web page to your Favorites or you can right click on the page and choose Send Shortcut to Desktop, or both. I am currently using Internet Explorer 7 which allows me to save Favorites in a Links Folder, which show in the Links Toolbar below the address bar at the top of the IE7 page.
Another tool that can help you in your searches is to remember that with Internet Explorer, in the Menu Bar, you can go to Edit, Find on this Page, and enter a keyword you are searching for rather than spending a lot of time scrolling through material searching for your information.
One other Windows tip is that when you are in New Family Search or any other program, for that matter, to hide the address bar and see a larger viewing area you can click on F11 at the top of your keyboard. These are called Function Keys. It will temporarily hide the address bar at the top of your screen and the task bar at the bottom of your screen. When you are ready to use them again, just click F11 and your address and task bars will reappear.
